The Universe — Passenger: The Ambu
A space-faring military Empire spanning core worlds and distant outposts, run on a strict chain of command — General > Commander > Soldiers — with classified projects and off-world facilities. Outside the military it’s a society of abundance and open opportunity: cheap materials, near-universal education, plentiful food and medical care, a genuine meritocracy. All three current shows sit in different corners of it: the military (TakeAway), civilians and recruits (The Twins), and the quiet lower levels of a vertical city where people stay by choice (The Lower City).
TakeAway
Logline: Two soldiers at an Empire science facility overhear a secret project and start digging — right into a conspiracy that gets people killed.
Format: Animated series, 18+, ~22 min episodes. Pilot: “Bottle of Bees” (S1E01).
World
Rally Pointe Delta, the Empire’s premier facility on the planet Pern. The restricted Section 1-B lab holds a mysterious “sample” / “cells” project, shuttled to an off-world sub-branch office and guarded with lethal force.
Characters
- Greg (Capt. Emerick) — cautious, rule-following; reluctantly pulled into the investigation.
- Tom (Pvt. Emerick, “Gerardie”) — reckless, sarcastic; drives the digging. Running gag: the “recount.”
- Commander Bradley — Greg’s mentor and the project’s enforcer; complicit, lethal.
- General Bond — cold voice on the line; the sample comes first.
- Vinney — hacker who “went straight”; finds the “cells” files; killed in the pilot.
Pilot in one breath
Greg & Tom overhear Bradley and Bond discuss the project → investigate via Section 1-B and the hacker Vinney → trigger a lethal response → are forced into the cover-up that kills Vinney → commit to digging deeper.
The Twins
Logline: A celebratory day out for twins Leo and Emily turns into a planet-wide invasion — and a scramble to get off-world with two friends on a barely-repaired ship.
Format: Animated series. Pilot drafted (16 scenes).
World
A dense transit city — apartments, malls, train platforms, ship hangars. Currency is the “Clancy.” A military “command” orders recruits and trainees off-planet when an unidentified force invades.
Characters
- Leo — the responsible twin; new recruit, ship owner and pilot.
- Emily — Leo’s twin; witty, the crew’s heart; knows some helm.
- Karah — Emily’s friend from the mall; quietly into Leo; the everyperson.
- Isen — wisecracking engineer who fixed the ship (and forgot to say so).
Pilot in one breath
Leo lands a job → a day at the mall with Emily → an attack tears through the city → command calls a full evacuation → they pack and reach the hangar → the four escape off-world as the ship boosts out.
The Lower City
Logline: One ordinary day, waking to sleeping, for a young man named Ben on the lowest levels of a vertical Empire city — a life he could leave, and never does.
Format: Animated series. Pilot ~20 min, two parts + intermission, 11 scenes. A deliberate anti-arc.
World
A dense vertical canyon of pipes, smog, and crowds. The Upper City is never seen — only great beams of light falling through the smog. No one’s trapped here: the Empire is abundant and the way up is open to anyone. People stay by choice, and monotony makes the choice for them. Look: amber and teal-grey.
Characters
- Ben — the withdrawn lead; moves through the day without looking up.
- Encounters — the Vendor, Old Woman, Coworker, Boy, Shopkeeper, Girl, Smoking Man, and an unseen Neighbor; each a single, glancing exchange.
Load-bearing lines
- “Same as the city.” (the Shopkeeper)
- “Nobody does at first.” (the Girl)
- “Clear day… for down here.” (the Smoking Man)
